Darwin L. Snyder
Darwin L. Snyder, 61, of Horse Shoe Run, WV passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones Tuesday Oct. 10, 2012 at the Cleveland Clinic Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 1, 1950 in Horse Shoe Run, WV a son of the late Lawrence Richard Snyder and Viola Frances Harsh Snyder of Thomas, WV. Also surviving are his wife of 43 years, Judy Crawford Snyder of Horse Shoe Run, WV, daughter, Natalie Snyder Stone and husband Jonathan of Morgantown, WV, his very special granddaughter-Grandpa’s Girl, Caitlyn Rae Stone, sister, Esther Snyder of Parkersburg, WV, brothers, Roger and wife Sue Ann Snyder of Fredericksburg, VA and Milton Snyder of Frederick, MD; brother-in-laws, Allen and wife Jiying Li Crawford of Herndon, VA and Mark and wife Susan Crawford of Albany, GA, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by 1 son, Christopher Darwin Snyder, nephew, Travis Snyder, brother-in-law, Robert VanMeter and sister-in-law, Joan Crawford.
Darwin was a graduate of Aurora High School class of 1968. He was a master electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 596 where he served as business manager for 18 years. He also served on the National JATC Committee and was secretary/treasurer of the WV Electrical Association. Darwin also served as a trustee and for the past 12 years as President of the North Central WV Building and Construction Trades Council AFL-CIO. He was a vice president for the WV State Building Trades Council and also served on the WV Hospital Finance Committee.
Darwin was a member of the Thomas Fairfax Masonic Lodge # 174 where he served as master for several years. He was a member of the 32nd Scottish Rite of Wheeling, WV along with being a member of the Eastern Star.
After his retirement Darwin enjoyed farming and hunting but his main focus was his granddaughter, Caitlyn Rae whom he loved spending time with.
Friends will be received on Monday Oct. 15, 2012 at the Aurora Memorial Building, Aurora, WV from 6-9 PM and on Tuesday Oct. 16 from 2-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Aurora Memorial Building on Wednesday Oct. 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Rogers Fike and Wick Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the Accident Cemetery.
